Barrier wall work planned this week on I-70

Wayne County, Ind. (May 27, 2025) – Crews are continuing to install new barrier wall on I-70 to provide protection to crews during construction. Demolition and utility work is also scheduled at Union Pike.

Drivers can expect the following:

Tuesday, May 27 through Sunday, June 1

  • Overnight lane closure on eastbound I-70 from Union Pike to Smyrna Road
  • Overnight lane closure on westbound I-70 from Smyrna Road to U.S. 27

Thursday, May 29 through Friday, May 30

  • Overnight lane closure on eastbound I-70 from Union Pike to U.S. 27
  • Overnight lane closure on westbound I-70 U.S. 27 to Union Pike

Overnight restrictions are 8 p.m. to 7 a.m.

Sunday, June 1

  • Rolling slowdowns at Union Pike to relocate utilities (7:30 a.m. to 9 a.m.)

All closures and restrictions are weather dependent.

Construction Speed Limit Now Active
The construction zone speed limit is now active on I-70. A reduced speed of 55 mph is in place for the duration of Revive I-70 work. It is important for drivers to slow down and avoid distractions in work zones.
