INDOT awarded the $377.8 million contract to the Walsh Group, Crider & Crider, Rieth-Riley joint venture in summer 2024. Pavement patching extended from west of Centerville to U.S. 35 and was completed in December 2024. Contract 1 construction started in spring 2025.
I-70 is currently four lanes, two in each direction. A third lane will be added in each direction from west of U.S. 35 to the Ohio state line.
Widening work will happen inside existing lanes utilizing the grass median.
Significant changes to the U.S. 35 and U.S. 40 interchanges will improve safety and mobility.
INDOT awarded the $162.3 million contract to the Milestone Contractors, L.P., and E&B Paving joint venture in early 2025. Preconstruction work is underway.
Specific improvements are being developed. Bids from interested contractor teams are expected in 2027.
