Lane restriction this weekend on eastbound I-70

Temporary ramp closures to begin next week

Lane restrictions are scheduled this weekend on eastbound I-70 to prepare for the start of construction early next year. Significant delays are expected, and drivers are strongly encouraged to plan ahead and use alternate routes when possible. The work is expected to be completed over the next two weekends.

Friday, Oct. 24 – Monday, Oct. 27 (10 p.m. Friday – 7 a.m. Monday)

  • Eastbound I-70 reduced to a single lane from State Road 1 to Centerville Road

Friday, Oct. 31 – Monday, Nov. 3 (10 p.m. Friday – 7 a.m. Monday)

Temporary Ramp Closures

The ramps from eastbound and westbound U.S. 40 to eastbound I-70 and eastbound I-70 to eastbound U.S. 40 are expected to close on or after Tuesday, Oct. 28. The closures are expected to last through late 2025. The signed detour utilizes U.S. 27.

The temporary ramp closures will allow crews to continue improvements at the U.S. 40 interchange. The partial cloverleaf is being replaced with a diamond interchange with single-lane roundabouts, and the existing loop ramps are being removed. The interchange is expected to open in final configuration in 2027.
