Washington Road closure to begin on or after Monday, Jan. 5
Pavement patching is scheduled this weekend and early next week on I-70. The following overnight restrictions are needed:
Sunday, Dec. 21 (6 p.m. to 7 a.m.)
- Eastbound I-70 reduced to a single lane from U.S. 35 to S.R. 227
Monday, Dec. 22 (8 p.m. to 7 a.m.)
- Westbound I-70 reduced to a single lane the Ohio state line to U.S. 35
Tuesday, Dec. 23 (8 p.m. to 7 a.m.)
- Westbound I-70 reduced to a single lane from S.R. 227 to U.S. 27

Washington Road Closure
The Washington Road overpass bridge is expected to close on or after Monday, Jan. 5. Washington Road will be closed from Kepler Road to Moyer Road.
The closure is expected to last through summer 2026. A signed detour will be in place using Moyer, Jacksonburg and Kepler roads. The closure will allow crews to rehabilitate the bridge and add a new deck to extend its life.
Restrictions Week of January 5
Bridge demolition work is expected to begin early next year near U.S. 40. The following
restrictions are expected:
Monday, Jan. 5 – Friday, Jan. 9 (8 p.m. to 7 a.m.)
- Ramps from eastbound and westbound I-70 to westbound U.S. 40 closed
- Eastbound and westbound I-70 reduced to a single lane near U.S. 40
- Brief stoppages of up to 20 minutes on eastbound and westbound U.S. 40
Construction Speed Limit
The construction zone speed limit remains active on I-70. A reduced speed of 55 mph is in place
for the duration of Revive I-70 work. It is important for drivers to slow down and avoid distractions
in work zones.
