Temporary closure of U.S. 40 ramp scheduled to begin Monday night

Overnight lane restrictions in place this week on I-70

The ramp from westbound I-70 to westbound U.S. 40 is expected to close on or after the night of Monday, July 28, and will remain closed through September. During the closure, crews will remove existing pavement and begin construction at the interchange.

The official detour will follow S.R. 227 (Exit 153) to eastbound I-70 to westbound U.S. 40 (Exit 156A).

Significant changes to the U.S. 40 interchange aim to improve safety and mobility. The partial cloverleaf at the U.S. 40 interchange will be replaced with a diamond interchange with single-lane roundabouts. The existing loop ramps are being removed. Weaving movements from entrance and exit ramps will be eliminated. The reconstructed interchange will open by late 2027.
