Eastbound I-70 is expected to be reduced to one lane between Brick Church Road and Centerville Road this weekend from 6 a.m. Saturday until 7 a.m. Monday. The start of the closure has been delayed until Saturday morning because of the rain expected overnight Friday.
Significant back-ups and delays are expected. Drivers are encouraged to plan ahead and use alternate routes when possible. There will be no access to State Road 1 to and from eastbound I-70 during the closure.
This is the first of three weekend closures needed on this section of I-70 to shift traffic and prepare for additional construction with pavement and bridges being improved along the corridor. Work is expected to continue the weekend of May 15 and be completed the weekend of May 29 with the same closures in place. Anticipated hours for those closures are 9 p.m. Friday until 7 a.m. Monday.
U.S. 35 Temporary Ramp Closures Begin Later This Month
Ramps to and from U.S. 35 and westbound I-70 are expected to close on or after Friday, May 15. They are expected to reopen by late July. This includes the exit ramp from westbound I-70 to southbound U.S. 35 and the flyover on-ramp from northbound U.S. 35 to westbound I-70. Signed detours will be in place.
During the closure, the flyover ramp will be demolished, and crews will be building the two roundabouts at the improved U.S. 35 interchange. Roundabouts have been proven to improve safety and traffic flow. Removing the loop ramps will eliminate the weaving movements from entrance and exit ramps.

The following restrictions are expected this week as work progresses on the I-70 corridor:
