Shoulder strengthening resuming on I-70

Shoulder strengthening is resuming on I-70 this week. Drivers can expect the following traffic impacts through next week: 

Friday, June 6 and Saturday, June 7 and Monday, June 9 through Saturday, June 14 

  • Overnight lane closure on eastbound I-70 from S.R. 227 to U.S. 40 
  • Overnight closures on eastbound I-70 ramps to and from S.R. 227 

Wednesday, June 11 

  • Overnight lane closure on westbound I-70 from U.S. 27 to Union Pike 
  • Rolling slowdown on westbound I-70 from U.S. 40 to Union Pike 

All closures are scheduled between 8 p.m. and 7 a.m. each night, and work is weather dependent.  

Crews are placing new asphalt to strengthen the pavement to accommodate traffic during construction. Drivers will utilize part of the outside shoulder to maintain two lanes of traffic for most of construction.  

Construction Speed Limit Now Active
The construction zone speed limit is now active on I-70. A reduced speed of 55 mph is in place for the duration of Revive I-70 work. It is important for drivers to slow down and avoid distractions in work zones.
