Shoulder work continues on I-70

Shoulder strengthening progresses on the Revive I-70 corridor in Wayne County this week.

Drivers can expect the following:

  • Overnight Monday, April 28, through Friday, May 2
    • Lane restriction on eastbound I-70 from U.S. 40 to S.R. 227
    • Ramp from U.S. 27 to eastbound I-70 closed
    • Ramps to and from S.R. 227 to eastbound I-70 closed

Crews are strengthening the existing shoulder with new asphalt to accommodate traffic during construction. Traffic will utilize part of the outside shoulder to maintain two lanes of traffic for most of construction and give crews the room needed to build new lanes of I-70. The additional travel lanes will be built using the existing inside shoulder.

Overnight, weekday closures are scheduled from 8 p.m. to 7 a.m., weather permitting, unless noted otherwise.

Delays Anticipated
Necessary traffic restrictions will cause delays on I-70. Drivers should plan ahead and use alternate routes, when possible.

Construction Speed Limit Now Active
The construction zone speed limit is now active on I-70. A reduced speed of 55 mph is in place for the duration of Revive I-70 work. It is important for drivers to slow down and avoid distractions in work zones.
